Tree Planting
(Las Vegas Metro)

At Green Man Tree Service, we focus on planting trees built for this environment — native and desert-resilient species that can survive long-term without permanent irrigation (unless the tree’s purpose is food production). If a tree can’t thrive on rainfall and groundwater conditions once established, it doesn’t make our list.

This keeps your landscape low-maintenance, keeps your water bill reasonable, and keeps the desert ecology intact instead of working against it.

Our Planting Philosophy

1. Native-First Approach

Local species evolved to handle our climate: heat, wind, poor soils, and extreme dryness. These trees root deeper, live longer, and support wildlife instead of draining resources.

Common examples we recommend:

  • Desert willow

  • Mesquite (honey, screwbean, velvet)

  • Palo verde

  • Desert Fan Palm

  • Catclaw acacia

  • Cottonwood (in appropriate sites)

These aren’t just “drought-tolerant” or "drought-adapted" — they've evolved to thrive specifically in Southern Nevada.

2. Local Stock First (Limit Imports)

We seek out locally grown nursery trees whenever possible. A tree grown in Nevada or the Mojave stands a better chance than one trucked in from a different climate. This also prevents the spread of disease and pests, is beneficial to local genetics, supports local businesses, and reduces environmental costs

3. Food Trees Are the Only Exception

If it will need irrigation perpetually, it should feed people and wildlife.
Even then, we choose varieties that produce the most with the lowest maintenance need — thick peeled citrus, figs, pomegranates, dates, etc. and plant them in ways that minimize irrigation.

4. Right Tree, Right Place

A good planting job is not about putting a tree in the ground.
It’s about reading the site:

  • Sun exposure

  • Soil texture & depth

  • Drainage

  • Heat load

  • Wind corridors

  • Room for mature size

  • Proximity to walls, utilities, and structures

If a species doesn’t match the site, we won’t plant it.

Our Planting Process

Site Assessment

We evaluate soil, spacing, microclimates, and long-term viability. We’ll tell you which trees will thrive — and which simply won’t.

Species Recommendation

You’ll get a curated list of trees that are truly appropriate for your location and goals. Nothing that needs pampering.

Sourcing & Transport

We partner with local nurseries and growers to select healthy, properly grown stock. No root-bound discount trees, no weak imports.

Professional Planting

Proper hole preparation, root correction, staking only when necessary (which is almost never), and correct backfill methods.

Watering Plan (Short-term Only)

Even desert natives need help establishing. We set you up with a simple, temporary watering schedule that tapers off as the tree roots in.

After establishment, non-food trees should not require irrigation at all.

Why Choose Green Man for Tree Planting?

  • We plant for the next 50+ years, not the next 5.

  • We refuse to install species that will struggle or die.

  • We reduce your long-term water use and maintenance.

  • We prioritize the local ecosystem and desert biodiversity.

  • You get honest recommendations — not salesmanship.

  • You’re working with ISA-certified arborists who know this environment and have climbed, trimmed, and cared for thousands of trees across the valley.

We don’t just plant trees — we plant solutions that fit the Mojave.
