Thoughtful tree work, even removals

My name is Joshua Smith, owner and lead arborist at Green Man Tree Service. I grew up here in Southern Nevada, spending my early years exploring the desert, climbing trees, and developing a deep respect for the land that sustains us in such a harsh climate. Living and working in the Mojave teaches you early on that trees aren’t just landscaping—they’re infrastructure, habitat, shade, and legacy all rolled into one.

Over the years, that early connection grew into a career in arboriculture. I built Green Man Tree Service from the ground up, starting with a small truck, climbing gear, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Today, I’m a certified arborist, climber, consultant, and hands-on owner who still shows up on the job site. I believe strongly that tree work should be done with intention, skill, and respect—for the tree, the property, and the people who live there.

Why Boulder City?

When it came time to choose where to put down deeper roots, Boulder City was an easy decision. We were drawn to the small-town values, the sense of stewardship, and the pride residents take in their homes and public spaces. This is a place where neighbors still wave, where growth is thoughtful, and where history and environment are taken seriously.

As arborists, those values matter to us. Boulder City’s trees face unique challenges—limited water, extreme heat, compacted soils, and aging urban canopies. Caring for them requires local knowledge, restraint, and long-term thinking, not cookie-cutter approaches borrowed from other climates.

A Local Approach to Tree Care

  • Understanding which trees truly thrive here and which struggle long-term

  • Prioritizing structural pruning and risk reduction over unnecessary removals

  • Helping homeowners make informed decisions that balance safety, aesthetics, and sustainability

  • Treating each property as part of a larger shared landscape

We work with homeowners, HOAs, realtors and property managers, but more importantly, we work with neighbors. Our goal is to help maintain a healthy, resilient urban forest that benefits the entire community for generations.

Giving Back and Looking Forward

We’re genuinely excited to be contributing members of the Boulder City community. Whether that’s through thoughtful tree care, honest consultations, or simply being a reliable local business people can trust, we see Green Man Tree Service as part of the fabric of this town.

Trees outlive trends. The choices we make now—what we plant, how we prune, what we protect—shape Boulder City’s landscape for generations. It’s an honor to play a role in that process.

If you see me around town, feel free to say hello.
